Uppal is the eastern city’s industrial edge, and it has been since long before the ring road arrived. The Nacharam belt and the Uppal industrial corridor are where a lot of the city’s fabrication, engineering and manufacturing work happens, and that is still the character of the place.
What that means for scrap is weight. Most of our Uppal work is bulk, and a lot of it is construction: rebar and structural steel off a site, scaffolding, formwork, cable, pipe and fittings. An industrial unit here turns over plant, machine housings, sheet and offcuts, and the heavier metal that a fabrication floor produces. This is not an area where we are carrying one fridge down a staircase.
The residential side is real too, and it sits inside the industrial belt rather than apart from it. NGRI Colony, Ramanthapur, Habsiguda and the streets around the Uppal Ring Road are dense and long established, so household loads come off the same trip as the bulk ones. The Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, built for the 2003 Afro-Asian Games, is the landmark most people know the area by.
How we reach Uppal.
Uppal is about seven kilometres from the Kavadiguda yard. We come out through Dilsukhnagar and onto NH 65, or across via Ramanthapur, depending on where in the belt you are. Twenty-five to thirty-five minutes outside peak, and almost always batched with LB Nagar and Dilsukhnagar pickups.
