Four things decide the number.

Nothing here is a trade secret. If you know what moves a scrap price, you can tell a fair quote from a bad one, including ours.

  • Material and grade

    Copper, aluminium, iron and mixed loads are sorted before anything is weighed, and each metal is paid at its own rate. A copper coil is never paid at iron weight, which is the single biggest difference between a fair quote and a bad one.

  • Weight

    Everything goes on a certified electronic scale in front of you. You see the number before it is written on the ticket, and you get a copy of the ticket.

  • Condition

    A working appliance is usually worth more than its metal weight. When that is the case we say so, rather than scrapping something that would fetch more intact.

  • The day’s market

    Metal prices move daily on the commodity exchanges. The rate we quote on the phone is the rate we pay on the day, and we confirm it before the vehicle sets out.
