The copper windings are the value
A transformer is mostly steel by weight, but the copper in the windings carries most of the money. We grade and weigh the copper separately rather than paying one blended figure for the whole unit.
Oil is handled properly
Transformer oil needs correct handling and cannot be tipped. We take units drained or undrained, and deal with the oil through authorised channels.
Burnt units still have value
A failed or burnt-out transformer still contains its copper and steel. It is worth less than a working unit but it is never scrap metal for the bin.
Lifting and transport arranged
Transformers are heavy and awkward. Tell us the rating and approximate weight when you call so we send the right vehicle and lifting gear.
