LB Nagar is named after Lal Bahadur Shastri, and it grew quickly once the road linking it to central Hyderabad was completed. It is now the south-eastern corner of the city’s built-up area and one of its busiest junctions. The Red Line metro ends here, and the same line runs back through Kukatpally and up to Miyapur.
That position shapes what we collect. LB Nagar is really two areas stacked on top of each other. Behind the junction and the commercial strip sit dense residential colonies, Saroor Nagar, Nagole, Meerpet and Ramanthapur among them, where most of our work is ordinary household scrap. Out along Hayathnagar Road the character changes to an industrial and workshop belt, which is where the bulk loads come from.
The third thing happening here is redevelopment. The older colonies in this belt are steadily being rebuilt, single houses coming down for apartment blocks, and that produces structural steel, rebar, old pipework and cable alongside the household loads. Because we already run Dilsukhnagar on the same trip, an LB Nagar pickup rarely needs its own vehicle.
How we reach LB Nagar.
LB Nagar is about ten kilometres from the Kavadiguda yard, out through the south-east. We come down via Malakpet and Kothapet, or straight through Dilsukhnagar and onto NH 65, depending on where in the belt you are. Thirty to forty minutes outside peak, and almost always combined with Dilsukhnagar and Uppal pickups on the same trip.
