HITEC City was farmland until 1998, when the state and L&T carved a dedicated tech zone out of Madhapur and Cyber Towers went up as its first landmark building. What followed, Mindspace, DLF Cyber City, Raheja Mindspace and the HUDA Tech Enclave, became some of the largest IT campuses in India. The Blue Line metro runs through it, and the whole area sits under the Cyberabad police commissionerate.
That history is why the scrap here looks nothing like the scrap in Kukatpally. There are almost no old flats to clear out. What HITEC City produces is office turnover: laptops and desktops on a three-to-five-year refresh cycle, servers and storage coming out of a rack refresh, UPS banks, network switches, printers, and the furniture and partitions left behind when a floor is re-fitted.
The difference between a household pickup and a corporate one is paperwork. A laptop or a server holds data, and India’s E-Waste Rules make bulk consumers responsible for channelising what they discard to authorised recyclers. A company cannot hand it to a scrap dealer and forget it. So storage is removed and destroyed before anything is dismantled, the material goes through government-authorised facilities, and you get a data-destruction certificate for the drives, a certificate of recycling for the material, and a GST-compliant invoice that will stand up in an audit.
How we reach Hitech City.
HITEC City is a western run for us. From the Kavadiguda yard we cross towards Punjagutta and then go out through Jubilee Hills and Madhapur, or drop down via Gachibowli when the Madhapur junction is solid. Thirty to forty-five minutes outside peak, and the Madhapur stretch can double that in the evening. For corporate jobs we schedule around your dock timings rather than ours.
