Kompally sat along the old Hyderabad to Nagpur highway for years before the new residential layouts turned it into one of the fastest-growing northern suburbs. The highway is still what the area is built around, and it is still what makes the northern belt reachable.
The thing that sets Kompally apart from the other growth suburbs is its neighbour. Jeedimetla Industrial Area is one of the city’s established industrial zones, and a lot of heavy process work happens there: chemical, pharmaceutical, engineering and plastics units, with the plant, pipework, sheet and structural metal that goes with them. That is a different kind of industrial scrap from a fabrication floor or an electronics plant.
The residential side is newer and moves faster. Families arriving in the new layouts upgrade as they settle, so appliance scrap comes off houses that are only a few years old, alongside the fit-out material that a freshly completed layout leaves behind. Alwal and Suraram, which are older, give up the more accumulated household loads.
How we reach Kompally.
Kompally is about thirteen kilometres north of the yard. We come up through Secunderabad and Alwal, or out along the Medchal Road side when the centre is busy. Thirty-five to forty-five minutes outside peak, and usually batched with Alwal and ECIL pickups rather than run on its own.
